Tour description: The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve in the Monteverde area is not as famous as ‘Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve,’ but has very similar features in terms of flora and fauna. The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve is located on the Atlantic side of the Continental Divide and at a higher elevation. We like to send clients to the Santa Elena Reserve because it is run by the Santa Elena High School and proceeds go toward educational programs in the area. The trails are not as well-groomed and maintained as the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, but is less-crowded in high season.
