Tour description: This tour is a horse-lover’s dream and truly wonderful, Costa Rican experience! Get a feel for what it’s like being a Costa Rica cowboy by starting off helping to prepare your horse and learn how to saddle. Your Costa Rican cowboy will explain to you the type of equipment we use in Costa Rica and other details about horse care. After getting your horse ready, we head out on all-day excursion with the owner of Horse Trek Monteverde, Marvin Anchia. Marvin is a local horse legend and many call him the Monteverde Horse Whisperer. He has trained and ridden some of the most-famous horses in Costa Rica. The story goes that he started riding before he was born since his mother rode while she was pregnant! Marvin will take you on a gorgeous track on a small farm owned by Marvin and his wife Janet. Be sure to take a camera to take it all in! Marvin prepares a small picnic by the side of the river and relax. The area is very steep and hilly and the views are amazing! Of course, your day wouldn’t be complete without stopping at a local bar for a quick beer or soft drink and take in the local flavor – definitely off the beaten tourist path. Upon return to the stable, you can help bathe and feed your horse and thank him for a true Costa Rican day!
